We are a non-denominational, Christian ministry that seeks to fulfill the Great Commission commanded by Jesus, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…”  (Matthew 28:19-20).  We take the message of the Bible accompanied with the presence and power of His Holy Spirit to people through evangelism and discipleship.  We are an IRS 501 (c) (3) tax deductible, Christian, charitable ministry located in Lubbock, Texas.

Section II:    Bio

My wife and I (Becky & Larry Welch) have been born-again Christians since the 1970’s.

I met Jesus in a very miraculous encounter with Him in my apartment in Killeen, Texas in the summer of 1979 when I was a senior in college.  This encounter stretched over two days, and this is when I became a follower of Jesus and was born-again.

11 years later, in 1990, I once again heard the voice of Jesus.  He spoke to me as I looked out of a large glass window of my high-rise hotel building.  The United States was preparing to go to war with Iraq at that time.  Jesus challenged me and asked me if I wanted to “get on-board” with a plan that He had for my life.  He asked me if I wanted “more” of HIm, because I would need it for HIs journey that lay ahead.

I responded that I would take His offer, but I did not know what “more” meant, or how to get it.

Over the next several months, through a series of events and encounters, Jesus swept through our entire household with the power of His Holy Spirit.

First, Becky was filled with the Holy Spirit in a ladies Bible study/prayer meeting.  She had been suffering for a very long time from postpartum depression after the birth of our daughter.  The depression had become very bad.  On this day, when Jesus sent His Holy Spirit upon Becky, the ladies in the prayer meeting saw a bright white light shining around her.  Becky saw her depression rise up out of her, out her neck, and leave out through the top of her head and was gone.  She was instantly healed of a very bad depression.  That was amazing, and instantly life changing!  She was so excited  that she went around telling everyone.

After a couple of months, I finished a very intense season of flight training at my company where I was an airline pilot.  I now had time to focus on God.  While I was in a prayer meeting with some folks one day, Jesus sent the power of His Holy Spirit upon me now also.  When He filled me with His Holy Spirit, waves of electricity would wash over my body.  Each time a wave would sweep over me I would hear Jesus speak.  He would tell me that this is His Holy Spirit and this is the power that would accomplish the work that He wanted to do through me to reach people.

After this, Jesus also filled our two teenage daughters; one, while in our living room, and the other, while in the church foyer.

The church that we were attending at the time did not theologically believe in any of this in their doctrines.  They said that the power of God had all ended with the first century church.  However, here it was happening to us and our friends.  It was so amazing and exciting!

As I searched the Bible to understand this, I began to discover that it is recorded in the Bible that people received numerous fillings of the Holy Spirit sequentially; that is, one upon the other.  Each time God came to that person, He increased the power of the Holy Spirit upon their life.

For example, the followers of Jesus received His Holy Spirit in John 20:22.  Soon afterward, they received a second greater anointing of His Holy Spirit to be empowered witnesses for Jesus in Acts 1:4-8, and Acts 2:1-4.  Yet later, these same people received a third anointing that was even greater upon them then the previous two fillings, described in Acts 4:29-33.  By this third filling of His Holy Spirit upon them for empowered service to be witnesses for Jesus, the Bible says that there was “great power and abundant grace upon them.”

Thus, it came to my household just like Jesus had offered it to me when He had spoken to me in the hotel and had asked me, “Do you want more of me?”  He had granted us “more” of His Holy Spirit exactly like the Bible had stated all along.

It was such an exciting time.  It was like living in the first century church of the Bible, and the Bible began to come alive.  We were actually living the pages of the Bible every day.

Over the 21 years that followed, we held Bible studies, prayer meetings, prayed on church altar prayer teams, prayed in healing rooms, and went wherever we could to speak to people and help them receive Jesus and grow in God.

We have seen Jesus heal people.  People have given their lives to Jesus to receive Him as their Savior.  We have seen demons manifest and be cast out in the name of Jesus.  That was a whole arena that we never had known really existed.  But just as the Bible declares, it does.  One third of Jesus’ miracles were involved with casting out of demons.  It is very real; but they must bow at the Matchless Name of Jesus which is above every name.  We have seen many people get greater fillings of the Holy Spirit, have encounters with Jesus for themselves, grow in their relationship with God, and become bold voices for Jesus.

It was amazing, and life-changing, to walk as the first century biblical Christians walked and exactly as the Bible described it.  The Bible now made perfect sense and my life harmonized with what the Scriptures actually said.  I now understood, by experience, the Scriptures that the Apostle Paul had written during the original first century Christianity:

“For the Kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.”  (1 Corinthians 4:20)

“…and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.”  (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)

In the Book of Acts, it is written:

“And it shall be in the last days,” God says, “that I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my bondslaves, both men and women, I will in those days pour forth of My Spirit and they shall prophesy.”  (Acts 2:17-18)

Indeed, these very Scriptures happened to me and my house.  God poured out His Spirit upon us, and changed my life.  In fact, it totally transformed my life; totally changed the direction that my life was heading, and in fact, I believe, saved my life.

By the summer of 2011 it had now been 21 years of serving Jesus on this amazing journey since He had first spoken to me in the high-rise hotel.

In my professional career, I was an airline captain.  At this point I had now been a pilot for 36 years.  I had been an airline pilot at American Airlines for 26 years; 19 of those years I was a captain.  By now I qualified for retirement, so I retired in 2011 so that I could start this ministry, Restoring the Nations, and focus on telling about the greatness of Jesus full-time.

After I retired, I was praying one morning about how to proceed with the ministry.  As I prayed I saw a vision that spelled out the words, “Treasure House.”  I wondered what that meant.  I later looked at some books on our bookshelf and realized that Treasure House was the name of a large Christian publisher.  They also now use the name Destiny Image.  I had written a manuscript many years earlier that documented amazing things that we had seen Jesus do in our lives in our Christian walk with Him.  My kids had grown up with that manuscript and we had shared it with students and friends to tell them that Jesus is real and the Bible is true and accurate.  I now realized that God wanted me to publish this manuscript and share His amazing glory to a wider public audience.  Thus, we published the book, “The Miracle Landing,” to document and share the greatness of Jesus, the Son of God.  That book has now gone out throughout the United States and to several countries worldwide, and continues to go out today as a witness for Jesus the Savior.

These are the things that we continue to do at Restoring the Nations.  We primarily focus on the glory of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God and the only Savior of the world, and the greatness of what He has done on the Cross.

Section III:    Statement of Faith

1.   Scripture:

The Bible is the inspired Word of God; a revelation from God to man.

2.    Trinity:

There is one God, eternally existent in three persons:  The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

3.    Fall of Man:

Man was created in God’s image and for fellowship with Him.  Through Adam and Eve’s sin, fellowship was broken and sin, disease, corruption, and death entered into the world, and have been passed to all mankind.  Jesus has appeared to restore man back to God.

4.    Jesus Christ, the Son of God:

Jesus is both God and man, eternally existent with the Father and Holy Spirit, and through whom all things were created.  He was born in His human body through the Virgin Mary, led a sinless life, shed His blood at Calvary as a vicarious and atoning death (for salvation, physical healing, restoring fellowship with God, and eventually the total redemption of the body into immortal bodies), died, was resurrected, ascended to the right hand of the Father, intercedes for man, sends His revelation and works to us by the person and power of the Holy Spirit, and will return to this physical earth to reign in glory and power.

5.    The Person of the Holy Spirit:

He is also God, active on the earth today.  The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment.  He indwells all new believers at salvation.  He discloses and reveals the Father and the Son, bringing fellowship, revelation, and the power of the Father and Son to us here on the earth as He expresses the Kingdom of God.

6.    Salvation:

Salvation is received by repentance, and surrendering one’s self and life to the Lord Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord.  It is a gift from God, received from above, purchased by the shed blood of Jesus Christ’s atoning death, and when received, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell the new believer and brings the revelation of Jesus Christ within.

7.    Water Baptism:

Water baptism is an ordinance given in the Bible whereby after a new believer receives Jesus as his Savior and is born-again, he is then immersed in water as an outward public sign of what Jesus has done for him on the inside.  The believer is demonstrating his desire for a death to his old life, and arising to walk in newness of life and follow Jesus Christ.

8.    The Baptism of the Holy Spirit:

Jesus baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit.  This immersion in the Holy Spirit, coming upon and filling them, endues the believer with power to be an empowered witness for Jesus in the world.  The Holy Spirit brings revelation of God, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit for empowerment, and the Fruits of the Holy Spirit to grow the believer in the character of God.  He empowers believers to live in fellowship with God in a dynamic, living, overcoming, supernaturally empowered Christian life.

9.    The Kingdom of God Expressed on Earth:

Christianity is a lifestyle of living and walking in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit here on earth, expanding the Kingdom of God.

10.   The Return of Jesus Christ:

We believe in the bodily, personal, second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the believers, the millennial reign of Jesus on earth from Jerusalem, Israel, where He will rule the nations as the Righteous King, and the final judgment.  The final judgment will determine the eternal states of both the believers and the unbelievers, determined by their relationship to Jesus Christ.  The believers will be resurrected to eternal life, restored to living before God; the unbelievers will be resurrected to eternal punishment and separation from God.
